Spreading Clarity Beyond Sight
Gadadhar Maharana is the sole earning member of his family which includes his wife, his bedridden father and three young children. He is a 48-year-old skilled carpenter based in Malpada, a hamlet in Balangir. He started working young after his father’s accident that left his body paralysed and his life had been a struggle since.
After years of hard work, his craftsmanship finally gained recognition beyond the village and larger store owners from the town began approaching him with orders. Unfortunately, his success was short-lived. He mishandled several significant orders, causing his credibility to fall in the market. As a result, he was not paid for the faulty deliveries and was relentlessly harassed by debt collectors.
He understood that his incorrect measurements were a result of bleary vision which had been worsening over quite some years but he neglected it blaming it on age, being oblivious of the fact that it could be corrected. On being coerced by his wife, he attended the camp organised by Supreme Task India and was prescribed corrective reading glasses which made all the difference.
With new-found confidence, he contacted his clients to request them an opportunity to rectify his mistakes. He proved his worth and is now gradually paying off the long-pending loans from the payments he has been receiving. He is often heard spreading the word about our initiative as he claims we gave them the clarity that was beyond sight.
